As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 211 people, 106 households, and 57 families residing in the city. The population density was 220.8 people per square mile (84.9/km²). There were 139 housing units at an average density of 145.5 per square mile (55.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.10% White, 0.47% Native American, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.47% of the population.

There were 106 households out of which 24.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.3% were non-families. 44.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 28.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.99 and the average family size was 2.74.

In the city the population was spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 2.4% from 18 to 24, 19.4% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 28.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 85.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $29,750, and the median income for a family was $34,750. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $25,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,957. About 12.3% of families and 13.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 9.9% of those sixty five or over.
